 Hi everyone❣️

I know it has been a long time since my last post but sadly I was plagued with computer failures, stamp inventory crashes, rheumatoid arthritis flares & now I’m learning to use the new Cameo 4 Pro!  Things are slowing getting replaced, repaired etc so I will be back in the craft room for happier times.

I did want to tell you about something I am so excited about!  I was so in awe of this beautiful Dahlia Remix Kit I had to order it right away! Only Club Scrap could release a kit as beautiful as this❣️

Get yourself a kit and I will talk to you very soon🤗❤️🤗

Transparency Grids for Stamping

Hi Everyone!

I would like to share these grids I made to help you with getting your stamping perfectly straight on those cards and projects!  You will find a link below to the PDF file in which I have included all of the popular card sizes with their insert & card front sizes as well.

The Card Grids PDF is meant to be printed onto a transparency sheet with a laser printer but if you don't own one don't despair, load it onto a thumb drive and take it to your local print shop (Staples, Kinkos, Office Max etc), ask them to print the transparencies for you!  One HUGELY important thing though, make sure that when you or an office shop prints the transparencies, DO NOT allow any print options like 'fit to page' or scale to percentages other than 100% as this will cause the grids to print to the incorrect size and will be of no use to you.  If printed correctly the grids should measure exactly to the size indicated in the PDF.  See an example of this in the video below.

You can also view a demonstration of how to use these grids here on my blog below or on my YouTube Channel at:

This Card Grid Transparency PDF is free but if you feel the file & videos were helpful and you would like to make a donation I would be so grateful as I really want to keep making videos, blogging and designing files!  Thank you so much for coming by today and I hope you will find these transparencies a huge help!!  Please comment or tag me on your  Social Media with photos of you using them! You can find all my Social Media Below!

Using photos in alternate ways

Hello Scrappy People!

My post today is about using photos in alternative ways to our usual of making them the focal point of a page layout.  This idea came from a friend from my Club Scrap group, Marilyn Dexter!

My first example was to add text to a card using photo editing software like Photoshop Elements.  I'm very lucky to live in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia and the mountains are so beautiful, especially during winter with fresh snow upon them so I'm constantly snapping photos with my cell phone & camera.  I added the text to a mountain photo and made a sympathy or thinking of you in your time of need card!

My next example is to use photos to create a title by cutting letters out of them!

I created these letters over a photo in Photoshop Elements software but in the past I have also created titles like this without software too.  Simply set your text up in a word type program using a thick font & spread the letters apart using the 'Character Spacing' control.  I suggest you print them out on a cost-effective cardstock such as you would find in a 'dollar store' or office supply store as the letters will stand up better to handling & tracing.  Once printed out, cut out the letters using scissors/craft knife.  Place the letters face down on the back of the photos you want to cut the letters from and trace them using a pencil and cut them out, again using scissors/craft knife.  That's it! Use up those extra photos that may have otherwise hit the trash bin, virtual or otherwise!

This layout was completed with Club Scrap's January 2004 Asian Artisan Kit!

And that's what Melitta's Makin today!!

Blessings,

Melitta

Geode Technique Card

Hello Friends!!

I wanted to share my entry for the Geode Technique Challenge card created by my friend Julie Heyer of Club Scrap!  You can check out the challenge on the Club Scrap Blog by CLICKING HERE and get all the instructions to make your very own Geode Card!

I also wanted to share a change I made in finishing & card together.  Julie instructs us to cut the white center from the Geode,  turn the outer ring over on your work surface, add foam adhesive to the back of the outer ring then to the center back, add regular adhesive and set it face down into its home in the center of the Geode, bare the dimensional foam then center a black piece of cardstock over the geode. This is where I have problems because I can't figure out where the geode is underneath my black cardstock so I end up with it off centered...apparently I'm spatially challenged 🤪.  Okay so here was my solution to my problem...

Cut out the white center of the geode and center the outer ring onto the front of your card base using binder / paper clips to hold it in place.  Now add adhesive to the back of the geode center, I use Club Scrap Bookbinding Glue, then simply drop it into place adhering it directly to the card base.  Undo the binder clips and while applying pressure to the center, simply lift the outer ring away leaving the geode center in place.

Now add your glitter glue to the geode center and set aside to dry.

Once the glitter glue is dry, bare the foam dimensionals then visually guide your ring down to line up the center of the outer ring with the center of the geode!

Add your sentiment and you're good to go!  BTW, my sentiment comes from the February 2019 Cobblestone digital image kit.  You can also buy the sheet of Cobblestone unmounted rubber which has a great 'swinging sign' base you can stamp the 'You Rock' sentiment into!  I also absolutely love and recommend the Cobblestone Page Kit & Cobblestone Card Kit! Click on those links if you would like to check them out!

At the bottom of this post, I have listed the information on the Distress inks I used to colour the geode and the names & numbers of the Prismacolor Pencils I used to define the geode rings.

Hope you head over to Julie Heyer's Post on the ClubScrap.com website and give this card a try!

...And that's what Melitta's makin today! Blessings!

Melitta

Distress inks to colour the white cardstock were from the center outward, leaving a portion white then bring in Spun Sugar, then bring Spiced Marmalade leaving approx. 3/4" of Spun Sugar untouched, then bring in Picked Raspberry again leaving approx. 3/4" of Spiced Marmalade untouched.  Cut out the Geode in somewhat oval shape then edge the Geode in a dark brown such as Club Scrap's Earth Ink or Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

To define the rings I used the following Prismacolor Pencils from the center outward...PC 1014 Deco Rose, PC 1018 Pink Rose, PC 993 Hot Pink, PC 118 Cadmium Orange Hue, PC 1003 Spanish Orange, PC 1034 Goldenrod, PC 941 Light Umber & PC 1082 Chocolate.

I then made several rounds using a white gel pen to add a little more interest.

The bottle of Stickles was Diamond & on the second card, I used a mixture of Diamond & Cotton Candy Stickles.
